Newcastle Close in on Trafford, Tillman Joins Leverkusen, Partey Leaves Arsenal in Busy Transfer Week
The summer transfer window is heating up as several top European clubs make key moves to strengthen their squads ahead of the 2025/2026 season.
Newcastle United are reportedly on the verge of signing Burnley’s highly-rated goalkeeper James Trafford. According to trusted transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Magpies are finalising the last details with Burnley, and a “here we go” confirmation is expected soon. Trafford is set to become a major addition to Newcastle’s squad as they prepare for a competitive Premier League campaign.
In Germany, Bayer Leverkusen have reached a verbal agreement to sign U.S. international Malik Tillman. The total transfer package is estimated at €35–40 million. The player has agreed to a long-term contract, while Bayern Munich have included a buy-back clause in the deal. The Bundesliga champions consider the verbal agreement completed and are expected to finalise paperwork shortly.
Manchester United have also taken steps to secure their future by extending the contract of top youth talent Jayden Ngwashi. The 16-year-old, who has been monitored by several English and European clubs, has signed a new four-year deal with United, reaffirming the club’s commitment to youth development.
Meanwhile, in North London, Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey has officially left Arsenal following the expiration of his contract. Romano confirmed the exit had been anticipated for over a week. As a replacement, Arsenal are preparing to welcome Christian Nørgaard from Brentford, marking another significant midfield shuffle.
In Turkey, Fenerbahçe are moving closer to signing Aston Villa striker Jhon Durán. Talks resumed over the weekend, and Romano confirmed the deal is nearing completion. The Colombian forward had previously been linked with Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr, but Fenerbahçe appear to have won the race.
As for Al Nassr, the Saudi Arabian club is preparing for a managerial overhaul. Jorge Jesus is expected to be appointed as the new head coach this week, with a broader shake-up in the club’s leadership also on the horizon. Romano described the changes as the beginning of an “Al Nassr revolution,” signaling an ambitious new direction for the Riyadh-based side.
With more moves expected in the coming weeks, fans can look forward to an intense transfer season as clubs across Europe and beyond reshape their squads for the challenges ahead.
