New Daily Talk Show ‘The Morayo Show’ to Launch in Nigeria in January 2026
Award-winning Nigerian broadcaster Morayo Afolabi-Brown is set to debut a new live daily talk show, The Morayo Show, marking a significant new chapter in her media career. The show is designed to focus on social, cultural, emotional, and national issues while involving everyday Nigerians in discussions, providing a more interactive approach to television.
The show is scheduled to premiere on 5 January 2026 and will air every weekday on News Central TV, TVC Entertainment, and NTA Lagos, with live streaming available on digital platforms including YouTube. The program’s format emphasizes live audience participation, aiming to move away from traditional one-way broadcasting toward a more inclusive and human-centered dialogue.
Speaking at the unveiling of the show and its newly built studio on Lagos Mainland, Afolabi-Brown explained that the program was created to address the imbalance in public discourse in Nigeria, where only a few voices are often heard. She said, “Nigeria does not suffer from a lack of opinions; we suffer from a lack of listening. The Morayo Show is designed as an interactive, live platform where real people are participants, not spectators. We want conversations that reflect the realities, questions, and aspirations of Nigerians.”
Afolabi-Brown, who became a household name as the anchor of the breakfast show Your View, emphasized that the decision to leave TVC Communications and launch her own show was driven by a desire to engage audiences more meaningfully. “After 12 years, I felt a divine pull to step into the unknown and start speaking with people, not just talking at them,” she added.
The Morayo Show will cover a wide range of topics, including society, culture, relationships, family life, faith, leadership, business, creativity, and national concerns. The program prioritizes dialogue, lived experiences, and audience interaction over performative debates. Its purpose-built studio on Lagos Mainland is the first of its kind in the area, designed not only for the show but also to serve as a creative hub for podcasts, interviews, watch parties, film premieres, and professional recordings.
Kayode Akintemi, Editor-in-Chief and Managing Director of News Central TV, expressed his support for the initiative, highlighting its alignment with the broadcaster’s mission to create credible platforms for national conversations. Similarly, Olukunle Folarin, Director of Programmes at TVC Entertainment and New Media, described the show as a natural evolution in Afolabi-Brown’s career.
The Lagos Mainland studio will be formally commissioned on 18 December 2025, serving as a dedicated space for the show and its broader mission of promoting inclusive dialogue. Afolabi-Brown concluded, “Starting over is not easy, especially when you are known and comfortable. But leadership is about obedience to vision. This show is my response to the need for spaces where Nigerians can be seen, heard, and engaged with respectfully.”
