NCAA Revokes Air Operator Certificates Of Two Aviation Firms Over Regulatory Breaches

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has revoked the Air Operator Certificates (AOCs) of Omni-Blu Aviation and Eastwind Aviation Logistics Services Limited for violating key aviation regulations. According to the agency, both companies were found guilty of falsifying or altering official documents, a serious breach under Part 1.2.1.5 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations.

The regulation clearly prohibits the falsification, reproduction, or alteration of applications, licences, certificates, logbooks, reports or records, and carries a penalty of outright revocation of the Air Operator Certificate. As a result, both aviation operators have been barred from conducting aviation services in the country.

Omni-Blu Aviation, a Lagos-based helicopter service provider, has long served the oil and gas sector with offshore transportation services. Eastwind Aviation has also operated in the same sector, providing commercial helicopter services to the oil and gas industry as well as government agencies.

Announcing the decision, the NCAA stated that the revocation is part of its broader effort to sanitise the aviation sector and ensure that operators strictly adhere to safety and regulatory requirements. The authority stressed that compliance with documentation standards is critical, especially for companies involved in high-risk operations such as offshore helicopter services.

The NCAA further emphasised that it remains committed to monitoring all licensed operators and will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against any organisation found to be ignoring regulatory provisions.

Why is this decision significant? It highlights the NCAA’s determination to enforce strict safety and integrity standards across the aviation industry, even when it involves long-established operators.
