Mayorkun Teams Up with Davido and 7 Others on New Album Still The Mayor
Afrobeats star Mayorkun has announced that his upcoming third studio album titled “Still The Mayor” will feature eight guest artists, including his long-time collaborator and mentor Davido.
Set to drop on June 13, 2025, the 12-track project will include the much-anticipated song “Blessings on Blessings” featuring Davido, a five-time Grammy nominee. Fans are excited to see the duo reunite after their previous hits like Bobo.
The announcement comes after the release of “Reason 2 Japa” in April 2025. The song dives deep into the struggles facing many Nigerians, highlighting how economic hardship and poor governance continue to push young people out of the country.
“Tell me the reason not to japa,” Mayorkun asks in the track, echoing the thoughts of many Nigerians dealing with tough living conditions. The Amapiano-inspired beat gives the song an emotional yet danceable vibe, making it both powerful and relatable.
Mayorkun has proven himself as one of Nigeria’s top hitmakers. His past releases like Love For Free (2023 EP) gave fans chart-topping singles like “For Daddy” and “Low Key”. He first won listeners’ hearts with his debut album “Mayor of Lagos”, and his 2021 follow-up “Back In Office” included the smash hit “Holy Father” featuring Victony.
With “Still The Mayor”, Mayorkun is ready to remind fans and critics alike of his place among the top names in Afrobeats. His unique storytelling, catchy hooks, and star-studded features are expected to make this album one of the most talked-about Nigerian music projects of 2025.
