Mamman Says Only God Will Determine 2027 Elections, Not El-Rufai

Kaduna State’s Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Sadiq Mamman Lagos, has asserted that only God, not former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, will determine the outcome of the 2027 elections. He also criticized El-Rufai’s remarks against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani, urging him to stay out of Kaduna’s political affairs.

Speaking to journalists, Mamman Lagos emphasized that Governor Uba Sani has focused on governance without interfering in past administrations. He highlighted Sani’s efforts in reversing unpopular policies from El-Rufai’s tenure, including reducing high tuition fees and reinstating traditional rulers who were previously deposed.

He further praised the governor’s infrastructural projects across Kaduna’s three senatorial zones, noting that his administration has worked to change perceptions about the APC’s governance. Mamman Lagos warned El-Rufai and his allies against making inflammatory statements, insisting that the electorate, not individuals, will decide future political outcomes.

Meanwhile, Kaduna’s 255 councilors have publicly endorsed President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani for re-election in 2027. Speaking on their behalf, Muhammad Sani Badiko cited unprecedented infrastructural development and positive reforms in rural development, education, and healthcare as reasons for their support. The councilors declared that there is “no vacancy” in the Presidential Villa or Kaduna Government House until after 2031.
