LP Senator Neda Imasuen Likely to Join APC Soon Amid Party Crisis
Labour Party (LP) Senator Neda Imasuen may soon leave his party and join the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to a top aide of the Edo State Governor. Eugene Utubor, who is the Special Adviser to Governor Monday Okpebholo on Political Mobilisation and Engagement, made this known on Wednesday.
Utubor disclosed that he held a meeting with Senator Imasuen on Tuesday night in Benin, and the senator showed strong interest in joining the APC. He added that discussions are ongoing to ensure Imasuen plays an important role in strengthening the party both in Edo State and across the country.
The Labour Party has been dealing with serious internal issues, including leadership disputes and factional disagreements, both in Edo State and at the national level. These conflicts have caused concerns among many of its members.
Senator Imasuen, who chairs the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges, has reportedly stayed away from responding to questions about his commitment to the LP due to the party’s unstable state. His recent silence has further fueled rumors about his planned defection.
Utubor stated, “I can tell you that Senator Neda Imasuen will join the All Progressives Congress in the coming days. I was with him on Tuesday, and his body language speaks volumes.”
He also noted that the senator has been impressed by Governor Okpebholo’s leadership and performance, and wants to be part of the team moving Edo forward. According to Utubor, Imasuen believes in the governor’s vision and has called on other citizens to support the government’s progress.
In recent months, Imasuen has been seen at public events with APC leaders in Edo State and reportedly maintains friendly ties with many top members of the ruling part.
