Nollywood actor Lateef Adedimeji has been honoured as the Muslim Celebrity of the Year 2024/2025 by Muslim News Nigeria. The award celebrates his excellence as an actor and his strong dedication to Islamic values in the entertainment industry. The announcement was made by the Publisher of the newspaper, Alhaji Rasheed Abubakar, who explained that the award goes to Muslims who stand out in their professions while remaining committed to their faith. He said Lateef Adedimeji fulfilled all the requirements and continues to be an inspiration to many people across Nigeria.

In the last four years, Adedimeji’s fame has grown quickly through his major roles in several successful biographical movies. He became widely recognised for his performance in Ayinla in 2021, followed by Jagun Jagun in 2023. He also starred in Lisabi 1 & 2 in 2024, a film that earned nominations and awards at both the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) and the 2025 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). His hard work and talent have made him one of the most respected actors of his generation.

Even with his success, Adedimeji has remained humble and committed to living by Islamic teachings. He openly identifies as a Muslim and tries to reflect Islamic values in his lifestyle, both on and off screen. People admire him for maintaining a decent lifestyle free from major scandals, negative behaviour, or controversies that are common in the entertainment industry. Adedimeji has also supported several charitable causes over the years. In 2022 and 2023, he partnered with different NGOs and Islamic organisations to distribute food packs during Ramadan. According to the organisers, one major reason he qualified for the award is his clean public image. They noted that he has never been involved in drugs, infidelity, financial scandals, or other negative behaviour. They added that his conduct encourages young Muslims to embrace their identity proudly and follow the path of good behaviour.

The Publisher of Muslim News Nigeria congratulated Lateef Adedimeji and praised him for his admirable character. He said the award serves as both a recognition and a responsibility for him to continue representing Islam positively. He added that the award should encourage other Muslim celebrities to uphold their Islamic identity. He explained that #MNAwards is now in its fifth edition and continues to celebrate Muslims who excel in different fields, including health, education, law, governance, advocacy, and philanthropy. The formal presentation of the award will take place at the newspaper’s seventh-anniversary lecture on a date that will be announced soon.
