LASEPA Shuts Down Hotels and Lounges Over Noise Pollution and Environmental Violations

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed several hotels, lounges, and commercial establishments across the Lagos Mainland for repeated noise pollution and other environmental violations.

The agency’s enforcement operation, which took place on Monday, June 17, targeted facilities in locations such as Aguda, Surulere, LASU-Iba Road, Ilogbo Road, Jakande, Ajangbadi, Ojo, Okokomaiko, and Agric Bus Stop.

Among the sealed premises are Admax Lounge, Casco Gas Plant, Food Affairs, Hotel De Bravo, JC Wellington Hotel & Suites, Niger Villa, Nayon Superstores, Another Level Hotel, The Levite Assembly, Lutana Lounge & Suites, and Kelwinson Hotel.

LASEPA made the announcement via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating,
“Today, June 17, we intensified enforcement actions across Lagos Mainland due to persistent environmental violations, especially noise pollution.”

General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, emphasized that the agency maintains a strict zero-tolerance approach to noise pollution and other activities that degrade the environment. He highlighted that persistent noise disturbances pose serious health risks and contribute to urban stress.

“Our enforcement today is a clear message that we are committed to protecting the environment and ensuring a healthier Lagos,” Ajayi stated. He reiterated the agency’s responsibility to enforce compliance and restore environmental sanity in the state.

The clampdown follows growing concerns from residents about sleepless nights and declining public health due to excessive noise from bars, lounges, and other entertainment centers.

Dr. Ajayi urged all business operators and residents to comply with the state’s environmental laws, noting that the agency remains committed to fostering a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable Lagos.

This action by LASEPA reflects the broader agenda of the Lagos State government to enforce environmental regulations and safeguard public well-being across all communities in the state.
