Klint Da Drunk Reveals How 2Baba Ended His Music Career

Ace Nigerian comedian Afamefuna Klint Igwemba, popularly known as Klint Da Drunk, has revealed how legendary singer Innocent Idiba, famously known as 2Baba or 2Face, influenced his decision to quit music and focus on comedy.

In a recent interview with Naija FM Lagos, Klint Da Drunk recounted that his music career began while he was a student at the Institute of Management Technology (IMT) in Enugu State. He shared that he initially pursued music passionately but changed direction after witnessing 2Baba perform at a campus event.

“I used to be a musician until 2Face got admitted to my school, IMT. One day when he got on stage to perform at an event on campus, I left the hall. The organisers pleaded with me to stay back and perform after him. I accepted but after hearing him sing just two lines, I went home,” Klint Da Drunk said.

He explained that his decision was influenced by comparing his style to 2Baba’s, noting, “I didn’t know that my style and 2Face’s style were different. If I had known, I would continue making music. But thank God I didn’t continue. I like where I am.”

Before fully venturing into comedy, Klint Da Drunk was part of the music scene. He was featured in the popular Nigerian hip-hop track ‘Obodo’ by rapper Mr Raw and co-founded a music group with him. The group came second in the 2002 Star Quest talent show, losing to KC Presh.

Since transitioning to comedy, Klint Da Drunk has gained widespread recognition and has starred in numerous Nollywood films, including ‘Men On The Run’, ‘Madam 10/10’, ‘Fast Cash’, and ‘Lost Kingdom.’ His unique comedic style has made him a household name across Nigeria.
