Kenneth Okonkwo Slams Tinubu Over Borno Massacre Says President Is Clueless on Insecurity
Nollywood actor-turned-politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, has taken a swipe at President Bola Tinubu over the persistent killings in Nigeria, particularly the recent massacre of 102 people in Borno State. The former Labour Party chieftain expressed disappointment that despite repeated warnings about the resurgence of Boko Haram, the government has failed to act decisively to end the bloodshed.
In a strongly worded Instagram post, Okonkwo condemned Tinubu for vacationing abroad while innocent Nigerians continue to lose their lives to insurgency and banditry. He accused the president of being “clueless” in addressing the worsening security crisis, adding that meaningful change may only come after Tinubu’s administration ends.
“When will this massacre of Nigerians stop? 102 persons slaughtered again in Borno despite the continuous warning by Gov Zulum about the resurgence of Boko Haram. As this is going on, Tinubu is on vacation in Europe. Obviously, this massacre can only stop when Tinubu’s government ends as he is clueless as to the solution of insecurity in Nigeria. My condolences to the family of the slain across Nigeria,” Okonkwo wrote.
The massacre in Borno has once again sparked public outrage, with many Nigerians questioning the government’s strategy in handling terrorism and insurgency. For critics like Okonkwo, the failure to protect lives shows a lack of leadership at a time when citizens need strong security assurances.
Kenneth Okonkwo, who has transitioned from Nollywood to politics, has remained vocal on national issues, often using his platform to call for accountability from those in power. His remarks have drawn mixed reactions, with some Nigerians praising his boldness while others argue that political leaders should provide solutions rather than criticism alone.
In another development, Nollywood star Annie Idibia also made headlines with an emotional message to her daughters. She shared her hopes that her children would learn their worth early in life and avoid the mistakes she once made. In an Instagram story, Annie encouraged her daughters never to settle for less, reminding them that she would always be in their corner.
“I hope my daughter doesn’t accept things I’ve accepted, that she knows her worth from the start and knows that no matter what, she always has me in her corner,” Annie wrote. She added that if people see her happy now, they should let her be because she has fought unseen battles to reach this point of freedom and peace.
Her posts struck a chord with many fans, highlighting the personal struggles she has overcome while serving as a message of strength and resilience for women and mothers alike.
Both Okonkwo and Annie Idibia’s statements have continued to trend on social media, showing how Nollywood stars are increasingly using their platforms to address both political and personal issues in Nigeria.
