Kate Henshaw Speaks on Menopause and Women’s Health in Lagos

Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has opened up about her personal experience with menopause, using her platform to encourage women to better understand their bodies and focus on long-term health. She spoke in Lagos while headlining the unveiling of Efamol Evening Primrose Oil in Nigeria.

The event took place during the 2026 Continuing Education Conference of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria, bringing together healthcare professionals, pharmacists, and wellness advocates. It aimed to promote a shift toward preventive healthcare and science-based wellness solutions.

During a panel session, Kate Henshaw shared that she was not fully aware of menopause symptoms until she was over 50. She explained that many of the changes she experienced in her body were later identified as menopausal signs, highlighting the need for greater awareness among women.

She stressed that menopause is a natural phase of life but requires proper understanding and management. According to her, awareness, discipline, and access to the right support systems are key to handling the transition effectively.

The launch event also featured contributions from healthcare experts. Ibukun Tola-Ogunyemi emphasized the growing demand for evidence-based supplements, noting that products like Efamol Evening Primrose Oil provide reliable support due to their strong scientific backing.

Menopause advocate Mosunmola Dosumu spoke about the physical and emotional challenges women face during hormonal changes. She explained that reduced oestrogen levels can affect skin health, hydration, and overall comfort, but proper nutrition can help manage these effects.

From a distribution perspective, Ogheneochuko Omaruaye, CEO of New Heights Pharmaceuticals Limited, assured that the product would be widely available across pharmacies in Nigeria. He noted that partnerships have been established to ensure easy access for consumers nationwide.

Efamol Evening Primrose Oil is known for its rich content of essential fatty acids, especially Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA), which supports hormonal balance and skin health. Clinical studies have linked it to benefits such as improved skin elasticity, reduced dryness, and relief from premenstrual discomfort.
