JAMB Releases Results of 85 Underage Candidates for 2025 UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of 85 underage candidates who successfully passed its rigorous screening process for exceptional admission. The announcement was made on Monday in Abuja by the Board’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.

According to JAMB, the approval followed a comprehensive evaluation that identified 85 candidates—each below 16 years of age as of September 2025—who met all requirements and have now been cleared to proceed with their admissions. The candidates have been advised to visit their respective institutions to complete the process and print their JAMB admission letters.

Dr. Benjamin explained that the “exceptional admission” policy aligns with global best practices, where such cases are treated as rare exceptions and not the norm. He further revealed that during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), out of 2,031,133 applicants, 41,027 sought to be considered under this special category. Among them, 599 scored at least 80 per cent in the UTME, qualifying them for further assessment.

The Board then conducted detailed screenings involving school certificate verification and Post-UTME evaluations, which narrowed the number to 182 finalists. After additional interviews and documentation reviews, 85 of these candidates were confirmed eligible for admission.

JAMB advised any of the remaining 182 candidates who missed the final interview to submit a complaint through the JAMB Support Ticketing System under the newly created category “2025 Underage Complaint.” Each case will be individually reviewed and decided strictly on merit.

Additionally, JAMB announced that candidates who scored 320 and above in the UTME but failed to upload their O-Level results will have a final opportunity to do so within two days, before Wednesday, October 29, 2025. They are also required to notify the Board through the ticketing system after uploading.

Reaffirming its dedication to fairness and transparency, JAMB assured the public that all admission processes remain credible, inclusive, and consistent with maintaining the integrity of Nigeria’s tertiary education system.
