Ijoba Lande Denies Deepfake Video Involving Senator’s Wife

Nigerian comedian and actor Ijoba Lande has spoken out against a viral deepfake video that falsely shows him lying naked in bed with a married woman said to be the wife of a Nigerian senator. He revealed that the video is part of a blackmail plot, with the unknown person behind it demanding ₦5 million to keep it from being released publicly.

In a statement shared on Instagram, Ijoba Lande expressed serious concern about the growing misuse of artificial intelligence, especially in creating fake videos used to damage reputations. He appealed to the Nigerian government to take immediate action and establish strict regulations on the use of artificial intelligence before more innocent people become victims.

The comedian explained that the fabricated video has already started circulating among his contacts and benefactors. According to him, some of them have begun questioning his character, making the situation even more painful and stressful. He insisted that he is not the person in the video and believes that someone is intentionally trying to ruin his image.

Lande said that the anonymous blackmailer sent him the AI-generated video and threatened to release it if he refused to pay ₦5 million. He added that he was shocked when he discovered that the woman in the video is allegedly married to a senator, which has made the matter even more serious.

He openly questioned the motives of those who create and share such damaging content, wondering what they gain from destroying the lives and careers of others. He highlighted the emotional impact and stress that the situation has caused him, and pleaded with the public not to share or forward the fake video if they receive it.

Ijoba Lande explained that he is not a child and would remember if he had ever been in such a compromising situation with anyone. He firmly stated that the video is fake and does not represent any real event involving him.

Why is Ijoba Lande calling for AI regulation? He fears that the unregulated use of artificial intelligence could lead to more cases of deepfake blackmail and serious damage to people’s reputations.
