HR Professionals to Convene in Lagos for Workplace Wellness Conference

Human resource professionals, workplace counsellors, and health experts are set to converge in Lagos on Thursday for a one-day conference focused on workplace wellness, wellbeing, and employee welfare. The event will examine the implementation and benefits of Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs) in modern organisations.

The conference is sponsored by Chevron Nigeria Limited in partnership with Sages and Scribes Consultants. It aims to provide a platform for HR professionals and wellness specialists to explore how EAPs can enhance staff wellbeing, reduce workplace stress, and boost overall productivity.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday, the event will bring together experts to discuss the strategic deployment of EAPs, including their role in prevention, early intervention, counselling, and crisis response.

Dr Laila St Matthew Daniels, a psychologist, executive coach, and workplace counsellor, is slated to deliver the keynote address titled ‘The EAP Ecosystem: The Values and Benefits’.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Managing Director of Sages and Scribes Consultants, Venerable Adelowo Adesina, emphasised the importance of EAPs in supporting employee wellness and organisational performance. He said:

“Employee assistance is about employees’ wellness, wellbeing, and welfare. The core of EAP is promoting employees’ wellness to drive productivity and performance. This conference will examine the full EAP ecosystem, from prevention and early intervention to counselling, crisis response, and integration with organisational policies.”

Adesina also highlighted that participants would gain insights into best practices for EAP implementation, demonstrating tangible benefits for employers, employees, and the wider community. He added that the conference will be conducted in both physical and virtual formats, with free registration for all interested participants.

“Registration is free, and we encourage HR professionals, EAP practitioners, workplace counsellors, wellness specialists, occupational health workers, and anyone interested in employee wellbeing to register online,” he stated.

The conference will feature expert presentations, panel discussions, interactive workshops, and stakeholder meetings aimed at translating EAP concepts into actionable strategies. Key focus areas include:

  • Demonstrating the business case for EAPs, including improved ROI, reduced absenteeism, and enhanced productivity.
