Leading food brand Gino, under GBfoods Nigeria, has joined forces with award-winning Nigerian chef Hilda Baci to celebrate their remarkable Guinness World Record achievement. The duo hosted a press conference in Lagos following their historic feat, which showcased Nigeria’s rich culinary heritage and strengthened their growing partnership.
The record-breaking event, held between September 12 and 13, 2025, attracted more than 20,000 people in person and millions online. It placed Nigeria’s Asun Jollof rice on the global stage as a symbol of creativity, resilience, and unity. This milestone officially made Gino the first Nigerian brand to secure a Guinness World Record, further solidifying its place in the food industry.
During the press briefing at GBfoods Nigeria’s office in Lagos, the brand highlighted its mission of celebrating authentic Nigerian cuisine and showcasing Jollof rice as a global cultural export. The event drew celebrities, dignitaries, and food lovers worldwide, making the record more than just a food celebration—it became a story of heritage, pride, and shared joy.
Vincent Egbe, Managing Director of GBfoods Nigeria, described the accomplishment as part of Gino’s long history of innovation. He stated:
“We are proud to have achieved this historic feat alongside Hilda Baci. Over a decade ago, Gino pioneered the introduction of tomato paste in sachets, and since then, we have continued to innovate with products that preserve the authentic flavors of Nigerian cooking. Achieving this world record reflects our ethos of serving Nigerians with originality, creativity, and pride in our culinary traditions.”
Oreoluwa Atinmo, Marketing Director of GBfoods Nigeria, emphasized how this milestone reinforced the brand’s household presence. She noted that while Gino is widely known for its tomato products, this achievement has also spotlighted its other innovations, including Gino Asun seasoning cubes and Gino Peppered Chicken seasoning cubes, with new maxi packs launched for bulk cooking.
Chef Hilda Baci, who has become an international ambassador for Nigerian cuisine, shared her personal story about Jollof rice and its cultural significance. She explained that Jollof rice is more than just food—it is an experience tied to memory, creativity, and culture. By combining Gino’s products such as Party Jollof paste, Asun paste, and Peppered Chicken paste, she created the winning recipe that showcased Nigerian food on a global level.
This Guinness World Record not only highlights Gino’s leadership in the Nigerian food industry but also demonstrates its commitment to innovation, heritage, and bringing people together through food. The achievement has already attracted global recognition, reinforcing Nigeria’s status as a culinary powerhouse and positioning Jollof rice as one of the world’s most beloved dishes.
