Fubara Mourns Buhari, Says He Left a Legacy of Patriotism and Service
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has expressed deep sadness over the death of Nigeria’s former president, Muhammadu Buhari, who died in a hospital in London on Sunday at the age of 82.
In a statement released on Monday through his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, the suspended governor offered his condolences to President Bola Tinubu, the Buhari family, and all Nigerians mourning the late leader.
Fubara said Buhari’s death was a great loss to the country, describing him as a disciplined and patriotic leader who was fully committed to the unity and growth of Nigeria.
The governor noted that Buhari’s time in office focused on fighting corruption, improving security, and rebuilding infrastructure—key achievements that will be remembered in Nigeria’s history.
He added that the former president served the nation with honesty and purpose, both as a military leader from 1983 to 1985 and as a democratic president from 2015 to 2023.
Fubara said, “President Buhari left behind a legacy of service, sacrifice, and patriotism. His impact will be felt for many years by generations to come.”
He also praised Buhari for his strong leadership and dedication to national development, saying his efforts shaped Nigeria’s future and strengthened its democracy.
The governor ended his message by praying for the peaceful rest of Buhari’s soul and asked God to give strength to his family and loved ones during this difficult period.
