FCMB Trains Over 44,000 Entrepreneurs for Business Growth and Success
First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has empowered 44,278 entrepreneurs with essential business skills to help them scale and sustain their ventures. Since 2018, the bank has been supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across Nigeria through its Business Empowerment Sustainability and Training (BEST) masterclass program.
According to a statement released on Wednesday, FCMB’s initiative provides both financial and non-financial support to SMEs, including targeted programs for women-owned businesses.
Speaking on the initiative, FCMB’s Managing Director, Yemisi Edun, emphasized the bank’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship. She stated, “We are bridging entrepreneurial gaps to drive innovation, growth, and job creation, ultimately strengthening Nigeria’s economy.”
FCMB’s Divisional Head and Senior Vice President of Business Banking, George Ogbonnaya, also highlighted the impact of the BEST masterclass. He noted that the program equips SMEs with critical skills to navigate a dynamic market. “We are bridging the capacity gap, expanding market access, and delivering tailored financial solutions to help businesses in Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Kwara, and Ondo states achieve long-term success,” he said.
The latest phase of the masterclass has taken place in the Southeast, South-South, and parts of Northern Nigeria. The next session is set to run from March 12 to March 21, 2025, in select states.
Start-ups and business owners will receive in-depth training on financial literacy, digital marketing, operational efficiency, sustainable business practices, and strategic planning. The program includes interactive workshops, mentorship, and networking opportunities, led by seasoned industry experts and business leaders.
