Falz Slams Tinubu Over Benue Killings Says President Has Failed to Protect Nigerians

Popular Nigerian rapper and activist Falz has harshly criticized President Bola Tinubu over the recent massacre in Benue State, accusing the president of failing in his most basic duty — protecting the lives and property of citizens.

Falz, known for using his music and platform to speak out against injustice, expressed his frustration in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on June 16, 2025. Reacting to the killing of over 200 people in Benue, allegedly by suspected herdsmen, he accused the government of repeating a cycle of silence and inaction.

“You have consistently shown that you are incapable of performing the primary duty of securing lives and property of your citizens. This routine statement does not cut it,” Falz posted, echoing the anger many Nigerians feel.

The rapper’s statement came after Tinubu finally addressed the killings online, following public backlash for his initial silence — especially as world figures like Pope Francis had already condemned the massacre.

President Tinubu’s eventual post on X read in part:

“I have been briefed on the senseless bloodletting in Benue State. Enough is enough! I have directed the security agencies to act decisively, arrest perpetrators of these evil acts on all sides of the conflict, and prosecute them.”

He also called on political and community leaders in Benue to avoid inflaming the situation and instead work towards peace and reconciliation. Tinubu urged Governor Hyacinth Alia to take the lead in uniting the people and restoring calm in the state.

But for Falz and many Nigerians, the president’s words came too late. The criticism highlights growing public dissatisfaction with how the government is handling insecurity, especially attacks on rural communities in Nigeria’s Middle Belt.

The killings have sparked nationwide outrage and calls for stronger security measures. Many prominent Nigerians in entertainment and civil society have echoed similar sentiments, demanding urgent reforms and accountability from those in power.

Despite Tinubu’s promises, citizens remain concerned about the safety of communities across the country and the slow response to crises.
