Ekiti Varsity Celebrates Pioneer VC, Prof. Adeoluwa, with Book Launch
The Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI) has honoured its pioneer Vice Chancellor, Professor Olufemi Adeoluwa, with a special recognition ceremony and the launch of a new book in his honour at the university’s main campus in Ikere-Ekiti.
The event, which brought together scholars, legal luminaries, and education leaders, featured the unveiling of a 607-page book titled Advancing the Frontiers of Education, Science and Technology. Proceeds from the book launch are expected to go toward the completion of a multi-purpose hall on campus.
Chairman of the university’s Governing Council, Professor Oladipo Aina, praised Professor Adeoluwa as a “rare breed and leader per excellence,” noting that his vision and commitment played a key role in shaping the university’s identity and direction. “We are celebrating Professor Adeoluwa not only because he’s a man of ideas, but because his passion and dedication have defined this university and given it a future worth celebrating,” he said.
Chief Launcher and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Professor Yusuf Ali, who was represented by Adetunji Oso (SAN), commended the university’s management for their developmental efforts. He assured continued support, noting that the multi-purpose hall project would have lasting benefits for both current and future generations of students.
Delivering the book review, Professor Kolade Akinwamide, Dean of the Faculty of Education at Ekiti State University (EKSU), described the event as a celebration of vision, excellence, and impactful leadership. He urged scholars and stakeholders to make use of the new book, saying it would contribute significantly to economic growth, human capital development, and socio-economic advancement.
Also speaking, the Vice Chancellor of EKSU, Professor Babatola Ayodele, highlighted Professor Adeoluwa’s legacy of selflessness and dedication to institutional growth. “The lesson leaders should learn from him is about giving back to the system. We should think more about the system than ourselves. This mindset helps us grow both the system and our personalities,” he stated.
In his response, Professor Adeoluwa expressed deep gratitude to the university community and organizers, saying the honour meant more to him than material gifts. “This gesture is special because it is not just about giving something tangible but sharing knowledge, which is eternal. The articles in this book will inspire others to advance their calling and careers,” he said.
Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Bankole Faloye, assured that Professor Adeoluwa’s contributions would be immortalized. He noted that the late VC’s values of wisdom, sacrifice, and leadership would continue to inspire future generations through his scholarly works and legacy at BOUESTI.
