Doyin Kukoyi Clears Air on Marriage Rumours With Ogogo Says Photo Sparked Speculation
Nollywood actress Doyin Kukoyi has addressed the long-running rumours linking her to a marital relationship with veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo. She explained that the story started after a photo of them together on a movie set was misinterpreted by fans.
In an interview with Seun Oloketuyi on YouTube, Kukoyi said that she and Ogogo played the roles of husband and wife in a film where their daughter got married. After the shoot, they took a picture together, which she later shared on her social media page.
According to her, the picture led to assumptions that she was Ogogo’s real-life wife, and the rumour has continued to spread ever since.
“I was at a movie location with Ogogo, we both played the movie roles of husband and wife where our daughter got married. The two of us took a picture, and I shared it online, and some people took it out of context, saying we were married. Till today, a lot of people still believe that I’m married to Ogogo. I took the picture with Ogogo because I loved him,” she explained.
Kukoyi further clarified that her admiration for Ogogo is based on respect, not a marital relationship. She emphasized that social media often fuels false assumptions that are far from reality.
The actress also reflected on her journey in the entertainment industry, noting that she has been in Nollywood for over thirty years. Beyond acting, her career began at Daar Communications, where she built experience in broadcasting. She has featured in several Yoruba movies and television productions, earning recognition for her versatility and long-standing contributions to Nollywood.
Rumours about her relationship with Ogogo first gained attention in 2022 when she shared playful pictures with him online and jokingly referred to him as her husband. The post quickly spread, with fans assuming it was real.
Taiwo Hassan, popularly called Ogogo, is one of Nollywood’s most respected actors and directors, especially in Yoruba cinema. With decades of work in film and television, he has become a household name known for his strong, dramatic roles. His consistency and dedication to the industry have made him a role model to many younger actors.
Together, both Doyin Kukoyi and Ogogo have left an indelible mark on Nollywood through their professionalism and commitment to the craft. While the rumours of marriage may persist, Kukoyi’s clarification makes it clear that the photo was simply a reflection of her respect for a colleague and not a reflection of her personal life.
