Do2dtun Defends Adekunle Gold and Simi Against Online Bullying

Media personality Do2dtun has come out in support of Afrobeats singer Adekunle Gold and his wife Simi, condemning renewed online attacks targeting the couple.

The backlash resurfaced after Adekunle Gold made his first public post on X since old social media screenshots linked to Simi began circulating again, sparking heated online reactions.

Do2dtun called the tone of the discourse “despicable” and urged social media users to leave Adekunle Gold alone. “I see the most despicable comments about him and his family. Mehn, it’s enough. He remains unscarred, and he is still one of the biggest musicians to ever come out of Nigeria,” he wrote.

He emphasised that critique should never escalate into harassment or personal attacks on a musician’s family. For Do2dtun, defending the couple goes beyond emotion—it is about respecting boundaries between public discussion and mob-style bullying.

Do2dtun highlighted Adekunle Gold’s musical contributions, noting his albums from Gold (2016) to Tequila Ever After (2023), as well as his reputation as a live performer, including headline concerts at iconic venues like the National Theatre, Lagos.

He urged social media users to respect both an artist’s craft and personal life, stating, “Una carry issue turn am to assault and extreme bullying. It’s enough.”

While Adekunle Gold has not publicly responded to the renewed criticism, the debate has sparked a wider conversation about celebrity accountability and online harassment in Nigeria’s entertainment scene.
