Deeone Drags Davido Over Support for Verydarkman, Questions His Motives
Popular Nigerian comedian Deeone has stirred fresh controversy after calling out superstar singer Davido for publicly showing support for social media activist Verydarkman. Deeone accused the music icon of using the trending situation to gain attention for his new album.
Recall that Davido recently took to social media to advocate for the release of Verydarkman, who has been facing legal issues. However, Deeone believes Davido’s support is insincere and driven by a desire to stay relevant.
In a viral video, Deeone stated, “Can you see why Wizkid and Burna Boy will always be greater than Davido? This thing now wey Davido tweet, does it make sense? As you dey tweet make them free your guy, EFCC office is it online? Davido will never jump on something until the thing don dey trend.”
He went on to imply that Davido only gets involved in causes when they are already popular online, suggesting that his activism is for clout rather than genuine concern.
Deeone’s comments sparked heated reactions from fans online. One user, @politicalcritik, pointed out the irony, saying: “Deeone is doing the same thing he accuses Davido of. He said Davido tweeted for clout but he’s also jumping on trending topics.”
Others were less forgiving, with @Officialsoliu calling Deeone “the biggest fool in the world,” adding that even Verydarkman would likely ignore his comments. @RICHARDESSE8 chimed in, challenging Davido to back up his support with action: “If Davido really dey sure say VDM na him guy, make him find way release VDM.”
