Davido Shares What His Wife Told Him After Grammy Loss

Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has opened up about the touching words his wife, Chioma Rowland Adeleke, shared with him after he lost at the Grammy Awards once again. The singer revealed the moment on social media, and fans quickly praised Chioma’s response.

Davido’s song With You, featuring Omah Lay, was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category. Despite high expectations, the award went to South African singer Tyla for her song Push 2 Start. This marked another Grammy disappointment for the Afrobeats star.

The category had strong Nigerian representation. Nominees included Burna Boy for Love, Davido and Omah Lay for With You, and Ayra Starr alongside Wizkid for Gimme Dat. Other nominees included Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin for Hope & Love. However, none of the Nigerian nominees won the award.

After the loss, Davido admitted he felt discouraged and told his wife that he did not feel like attending the Grammy after-party. He believed it was better to skip the celebration after missing out on the award.

Chioma, however, gave him advice that changed his mind. According to Davido, she told him, “Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. We’re outside.” Her words encouraged him to keep his head up and move forward with confidence.

Davido later shared photos of them attending the event together, showing that he took his wife’s advice. Many fans admired the couple’s bond and praised Chioma for being supportive during a difficult moment in her husband’s career.

The singer has been nominated for several international awards over the years, and although he is yet to win a Grammy, he remains one of Africa’s biggest music exports. His influence in the global music industry continues to grow, and fans believe his Grammy win may still come in the future.

For now, many supporters say Chioma’s words serve as a reminder that success is not only about winning awards, but also about handling losses with dignity and strength.
