Davido Reveals Why Akwa Ibom Was His First Choice for Nigerian Concert
Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed why he chose Akwa Ibom State as the first stop for his much-anticipated music concert in Nigeria. Speaking at a pre-concert reception in Uyo, hosted by Governor Umo Eno and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the singer explained that Akwa Ibom’s world-class infrastructure and peaceful environment made it the perfect destination for his performance.
Davido, who has spent over 14 years thrilling fans around the world, said the facilities in Akwa Ibom stood out compared to other locations across Africa. He described everything about the state as “beautiful,” adding that if other parts of Nigeria had similar facilities, he would love to embark on a full nationwide tour.
“When we were looking around Africa, five places came up, and Akwa Ibom was at the top of the list,” Davido said excitedly. “A lot of people are flying in from other states that don’t have this type of facility. You have a standard venue here, and that’s why we are starting in Akwa Ibom. The stadium is already filled up, and I’m ready to give everyone a great show.”
He further expressed his joy at performing in Nigeria again, noting that after a successful tour in the United States, he wanted to bring the same energy home. According to him, the Akwa Ibom concert marks the beginning of a new chapter for Nigerian live performances, especially in states that have invested in quality entertainment infrastructure.
Davido also took a moment to praise Governor Eno’s administration for prioritizing peace, security, and youth development. He said such efforts not only create a safe environment for concerts and tourism but also empower young Nigerians to pursue their dreams.
“I love the energy here, and I must commend the governor for supporting the youths and creating opportunities for young talents to grow,” Davido added.
In his remarks, Senate President Godswill Akpabio applauded Governor Eno for his leadership style, describing him as a youth-friendly and sports-loving leader. He also commended Davido for being a positive influence on young Nigerians, urging him to feature upcoming Akwa Ibom artists in his future international tours to give them global exposure.
Governor Umo Eno expressed deep appreciation to Davido for choosing Akwa Ibom as his concert venue and for being a role model to young people. He praised the artist’s dedication, consistency, and humility, noting that his journey inspires others to chase their dreams.
