Davido Livestream Pushes Carter Efe to Become Africa’s Most Followed Twitch Streamer

Nigerian content creator and comedian Carter Efe has officially become the most followed Twitch streamer in Africa, following a historic livestream that featured Afrobeats superstar Davido. The livestream, which quickly went viral, marked a major turning point for African creators on the global streaming platform.

Before the livestream, Carter Efe was already growing steadily on Twitch. However, his collaboration with Davido pushed his account to a new level. Within just four days of the livestream, Carter Efe gained about 160,000 new followers. This rapid growth moved his total follower count to over 405,000, placing him ahead of fellow Nigerian creator Shank Comics, who previously held the record with around 233,000 followers.

The livestream itself made history across Africa. Davido became the most-watched African streamer on Twitch after the session attracted about 83,000 live viewers at its peak. This broke previous records on the platform and showed the massive global interest in African entertainment and digital content. The stream also helped Davido become the first African streamer to cross 20,000 subscribers on Twitch, another major milestone.

During the livestream, several moments captured public attention and fueled online discussions. Davido made surprise phone calls to Nigerian football star Victor Osimhen and Twitch CEO Dan Clancy, both of which excited viewers and increased engagement. There was also a spontaneous boxing challenge issued by fellow creator Enzo, which quickly went viral on social media and added to the buzz surrounding the broadcast.

Industry observers say this achievement highlights the growing influence of Nigerian creators and African entertainers in the global digital space. Carter Efe’s rise shows how collaborations between music stars and content creators can open new opportunities and attract international audiences. It also reflects how Twitch is becoming an important platform for African creators beyond gaming, including comedy, music, and live conversations.

For Carter Efe, this milestone is not just a personal win but a major moment for African streaming culture. His success has inspired many young creators across Nigeria and the continent, proving that African voices can dominate global platforms when creativity, timing, and collaboration come together.
