Davido and Omah Lay’s ‘With You’ Named Nigeria’s Most Shared Song on Spotify in 2025
American-born Nigerian singer Davido (David Adeleke) and Omah Lay have topped Spotify’s 2025 Wrapped for Nigeria with their hit single “With You”, which emerged as the most shared Nigerian song of the year. The song was widely forwarded and reposted across social media platforms and private messaging apps, highlighting the role of music as a strong social connector among Nigerians.
Released earlier in the year, “With You” quickly became a cultural phenomenon, dominating Snapchat, Instagram stories, WhatsApp groups, and collaborative playlists. According to Spotify, sharing the track often served as a digital way for listeners to express themselves, connect emotionally, and communicate sentiments like “I’m thinking of you” without words.
Other top tracks on Spotify’s Nigerian 2025 Wrapped included Rema’s “Fun” in second place, which gained popularity especially on social media platforms, and Burna Boy’s “Love” ranking third. Gospel songs also made a significant impact, with Lawrence Oyor’s “Favour” at fourth and Gaise Baba and Lawrence Oyor’s “No Turning Back II” at fifth. These faith-based tracks were widely shared through WhatsApp groups and story feeds, providing encouragement and spiritual connection for listeners.
Spotify’s data revealed that features such as Blend, Friends Mix, and collaborative playlists increased social music engagement in Nigeria. Jam sessions and group listening activities grew by 145% compared to 2024, as friends, families, and even offices turned shared listening into bonding moments.
Music experts noted that the popularity of songs like “With You” was driven not only by their melodies and lyrics but by the sense of community they created. Spotify observed that “music is a social glue, a mirror of mood, a bridge across private and public spaces, and a thread weaving individuals into community.”
The 2025 Wrapped data confirms that Nigerians use music to connect, express identity, uplift each other, and create a sense of belonging, making songs like Davido and Omah Lay’s “With You” part of the country’s shared cultural experience.
