Daddy Freeze Reveals He Lost His MC Business After Criticizing Nigerian Pastors
Popular Nigerian media personality Daddy Freeze, whose real name is Ifedayo Olarinde, has opened up about the tough times he faced after calling out Nigerian pastors. He revealed that his once-booming MC business completely crashed as a result of the backlash.
Speaking during an interview on the Leadership podcast with Stephen Akintayo, Daddy Freeze said things became very bad after he began speaking against top religious leaders in the country. He noted that he was earning ₦1.5 million per event back when the dollar exchange rate was ₦150.
According to him, his popularity and high rate made him a top choice for big events, and he used to get booked for $10,000 gigs every two months, bringing in at least $60,000 a year from just that part of his work.
But everything changed.
“When I came after the Nigerian pastors, I lost 100% of my business. It got so bad for like two years,” he explained. “Since 2019, I haven’t gotten a single MC job. I only got one, but when the event flier went viral, people said they wouldn’t attend if I was there.”
Daddy Freeze also said the event host later cancelled his appearance, even though he had been paid. The man told him he could keep the payment, but that he could no longer have him host the event due to the backlash.
This shocking revelation highlights the impact of public opinion in Nigeria, especially when it comes to religious matters. Daddy Freeze has long been known for criticizing wealthy pastors and churches, often calling out practices he believes exploit followers.
Even though he faced heavy losses, he remains vocal and active in media. His story serves as a warning about how speaking against powerful groups can affect one’s career and public image—especially in a society where religion holds major influence.
