Chelsea Consider Guirassy as Backup Plan If Osimhen Deal Fails
English club Chelsea are reportedly eyeing Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy as an alternative to Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, whose high transfer fee remains a stumbling block. Despite strong interest from Chelsea since last summer, Osimhen’s hefty €75 million release clause has made it difficult for the Premier League side to secure the Nigerian forward.
As the summer transfer window approaches, Chelsea are weighing their options. According to Fichajes, they are preparing a $75 million offer for Guirassy, hoping to resolve their persistent struggles in front of goal. The Guinea international has been in fine form, scoring 28 goals and providing five assists in 41 matches this season for Borussia Dortmund. His standout performance against Barcelona recently added to his growing reputation.
Meanwhile, Osimhen—currently on loan at Galatasaray—has also had a stellar season. With 29 goals and six assists in 34 appearances, he is the Super Lig’s top scorer and a driving force behind Galatasaray’s quest for their 25th league title. Despite his success, the striker’s future remains uncertain, with talks ongoing between Napoli and various clubs, including Galatasaray and Manchester United. Recent reports suggest he may have already agreed to join United in the summer.
Guirassy’s impressive Champions League run and consistency in a struggling Dortmund team have made him a viable option for Chelsea. While Osimhen remains their top target, the Blues may be forced to turn to Guirassy if they’re once again priced out of a move for the Nigerian star.
