CAF Awards 2025 to Take Place in Morocco on November 19
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the 2025 edition of the CAF Awards will take place in Rabat, Morocco, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. The ceremony, which begins at 7 p.m., will bring together some of the biggest names in African football to celebrate outstanding achievements in the sport over the past year. The event will honour players, coaches, national teams, and clubs who have distinguished themselves through exceptional performance and commitment.
Nigeria is expected to be one of the most spotlighted countries on the awards stage, as several top Nigerian footballers made it onto major nomination lists. Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, who was crowned African Player of the Year in 2023, has been shortlisted once again for the Male Player of the Year award following another impressive season in Europe. Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is nominated for Goalkeeper of the Year after his standout performances for Nigeria and Chippa United. Youngster Daniel Bameyi has also earned a place among nominees for the Young Player of the Year category.
The Nigerian women are equally strongly represented. Super Falcons forwards Rasheedat Ajibade and Esther Okoronkwo are among the finalists for African Women’s Player of the Year, while Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been nominated for Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year. These nominations reflect Nigeria’s continued influence in African football and the consistent excellence of its national teams and professional players abroad.
Other male nominees include top stars like Mohamed Salah, Serhou Guirassy, Achraf Hakimi, and Andre Onana. In the goalkeeper category, many well-known names, such as Yassine Bonou and Edouard Mendy, will be competing alongside Nwabali. Clubs and national teams across the continent are also contending for recognition, with countries like Senegal, Morocco, South Africa, and Cote d’Ivoire nominated for Men’s National Team of the Year.
For the women’s categories, several African clubs, including Bayelsa Queens from Nigeria and Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies from South Africa, have been shortlisted for Women’s Club of the Year. Coaches of successful women’s teams are also recognized, including Nigeria’s Bankole Olowookere and Justine Madugu.
The CAF Awards ceremony is one of Africa’s most prestigious football events, celebrating not only individual brilliance but also teamwork, passion, and national pride. This year’s edition highlights Africa’s growing influence in global football, with many African players now shining in top leagues around the world.
As the date draws closer, excitement continues to build among fans, especially in Nigeria, where hopes are high that the country will return home with multiple major awards.
