Beverly Osu Says She Was Underpaid in Entertainment Industry Despite Years of Hard Work

Nigerian actress and reality television star Beverly Osu has opened up about the financial challenges she has faced in the entertainment industry, revealing that she believes she should have become a billionaire by now, considering the amount of work she has put into her career.

The former reality TV star made the statement during a recent appearance on the Ghacha’s Chough Podcast, where she discussed her journey in the Nigerian entertainment industry and the struggles many creatives face when it comes to fair compensation.

During the interview, Beverly Osu explained that she has worked in several areas of the entertainment industry over the years. According to her, the variety of roles and projects she has been involved in should have positioned her among the wealthiest entertainers in Africa.

“I have worked so hard. My portfolio is enough to make me a billionaire not just in Nigeria but in Africa,” she said while reflecting on the effort she has invested in her career.

Osu noted that although she considers herself a humble person, she is also aware of the value of her experience and achievements. She said that when she looks at the number of projects she has been part of and the different sectors she has explored, she believes her work should have translated into much greater financial success.

The actress also explained that the reason this has not happened is because she believes she has been underpaid for many of the roles and opportunities she accepted earlier in her career. According to her, this is a challenge that many people in the entertainment industry silently face.

Over the years, Beverly Osu has built a diverse career across multiple fields. She started as a luxury model and later became a video vixen, appearing in music videos before transitioning into reality television. She gained wider public attention after participating in Big Brother Africa, which helped introduce her to a larger audience across the continent.

Following her time in reality television, she moved into acting and began establishing herself in the Nigerian film industry. Since then, she has continued to work as an actress while also maintaining her presence in fashion, media, and other creative spaces.

Despite these achievements, Osu said she believes many entertainers do not receive the level of financial reward that matches their contribution to the industry. She emphasised that her comments are not simply complaints but part of a broader call for fair compensation and improved pay structures for creatives.

According to her, the conversation about better wages is important because many young talents entering the entertainment industry may not fully understand the value of their work or how to negotiate better opportunities.

Osu stressed that she has paid her dues and worked tirelessly to build her brand over the years. She said her experience across modeling, music videos, reality television, and acting shows the level of dedication she has invested in the industry.

By speaking openly about her experience, the actress hopes to encourage more discussions about fair pay and professional respect for entertainers, particularly in Nigeria where many creatives continue to push for better recognition of their work.
