BBNaija’s Uriel Slams Nigerian Men for Age-Shaming Women
Former Big Brother Naija housemate Uriel Oputa has strongly criticized Nigerian men who engage in age-shaming women, calling the act both offensive and ignorant. Taking to her Instagram page, the reality star voiced her frustration over what she described as a growing trend where women are mocked for aging naturally.
Uriel stated that using a woman’s age as a weapon of insult is not only disrespectful but also an insult to God. She questioned why a natural and inevitable part of life like aging should be treated with shame rather than seen as a sign of grace and longevity.
“This is going to be pinpointed to Nigerian men,” she began in a passionate video. “It is an insult to God to use age discrimination against a woman. I posted a video, and instead of understanding the message, all you could say is ‘oh, you’re getting older.’”
She added that people who focus on mocking age instead of absorbing meaningful content are failing to use their minds wisely. “You’re not smart enough to digest and use the concept that was taught to you to better your life,” she said.
Uriel also emphasized that aging is a gift, not something to be ashamed of. “Think twice before insulting a woman because she is growing gracefully and beautifully,” she said. “There is no shame in aging, aging is a privilege.”
She concluded by reminding critics that life is unpredictable, and many people with wealth would give anything just to have one more day to live. “I’d rather grow old than be six feet under with regrets,” she said. “Don’t mock what you cannot understand, one day life will remind you.”
Uriel’s message has resonated with many fans online, who praised her for speaking out boldly against ageism and for celebrating the beauty of aging with dignity.
