Bayern Munich Maintain Eight-Point Lead With Dominant Win Over Frankfurt
Bayern Munich extended their lead at the top of the Bundesliga with a commanding 4-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday. The reigning champions showcased their dominance, securing another crucial three points in their title race.
French star Michael Olise opened the scoring just before halftime, while Japanese defender Hiroki Ito doubled the advantage in the 60th minute. Jamal Musiala, who was instrumental throughout the match, added a stunning third goal late in the game, solidifying Bayern’s superiority. In stoppage time, Kingsley Coman set up Serge Gnabry for the fourth goal, sealing a comprehensive win.
With this victory, Bayern have now won seven of their last eight league matches, with their only recent setback being a draw against Bayer Leverkusen last weekend. The team remains firmly in control of the Bundesliga title race with 11 games to go.
Thomas Müller led Bayern’s attack in place of Harry Kane, who was benched after sustaining a minor issue in the midweek Champions League match against Celtic. Despite his absence, Bayern’s attacking play remained fluid, with Musiala playing a pivotal role in the build-up to the first goal. Leroy Sané’s precise cross found Olise, who easily tapped in to give Bayern a deserved lead before halftime.
The Bavarians continued to press after the break, and their persistence paid off when a deflected header found Ito, who capitalized on the chance from close range. Musiala then dazzled with a brilliant solo effort, dribbling past Frankfurt’s defense before slotting the ball past Kevin Trapp. Gnabry’s injury-time goal put the finishing touch on a dominant performance.
Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, RB Leipzig fought back from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw against struggling Heidenheim. The visitors shocked Leipzig early, with Mathias Honsak scoring a spectacular long-range strike in the sixth minute. Willi Orban’s foul on Marvin Pieringer led to a penalty, which Pieringer converted to double Heidenheim’s lead.
Leipzig found a way back just before halftime when Benjamin Sesko set up Ikoma Lois Openda, who finished clinically. In the second half, Leipzig were awarded a penalty after a VAR review, and Sesko converted from the spot to level the match.
While Heidenheim secured a valuable point in their relegation battle, Leipzig missed a chance to climb back into the top four and remain in sixth place.
