Awujale Throne Controversy As Lagos Chief Says Kwam1 Is Not From Ijebu

A Lagos-based community leader, Chief Abisoye Oyeyemi Oshodi, popularly known as Balogun Eko, has publicly criticized Fuji musician Kwam1 De Ultimate over his reported ambition to become the Awujale of Ijebuland.

The chief, who is the Balogun of the Epetedo area in Lagos, claimed that the singer has no ancestral or royal ties to Ijebuland. According to him, Kwam1 is not from Ijebu-Ode and does not belong to any ruling house eligible for the traditional throne.

In a video circulating widely on social media, Balogun Eko insisted that the Fuji star lacks the family background required to contest for the Awujale stool. He said this disqualifies Kwam1 from aspiring to the highly respected position.

This comes after reports that Kwam1 formally declared interest in the Awujale throne on December 3, 2025. In the letter shared online, the singer described himself as a “bonafide son” of the Fusengbuwa ruling house in Ijebuland.

Balogun Eko further alleged that Kwam1 attempted to seek the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu but was allegedly told to drop the ambition. He claimed this rejection may have contributed to the tension linked to the recent ValueJet airport incident involving the singer.

The Lagos chief also questioned the musician’s family history, stating that Kwam1’s parents lived outside Ijebuland for much of their lives. He challenged the singer to identify his father’s burial place in Ijebu or present at least six relatives from Ijebu-Ode or other parts of Ijebuland as proof of lineage.

Speaking in Yoruba, Balogun Eko advised Kwam1 to remain content as a respected Fuji icon and avoid actions that could cause conflict. He stressed that peace should be maintained in Ijebuland and urged the singer not to pursue an ambition that could divide the community.
