Asake’s Mr Money With The Vibe Returns To Spotify Top 50 After 148 Weeks

Asake’s record-breaking debut album Mr Money With The Vibe is once again making waves, nearly three years after its release. The album has re-entered the Spotify Nigeria Top 50 chart, with the track Nzaza currently sitting at number 23. This marks an impressive 148 weeks of continuous streaming success, showing that the project has not lost its appeal since it first dropped in September 2022. While most albums fade away after their initial buzz, Asake’s debut continues to resonate with listeners across Nigeria and beyond.

When Mr Money With The Vibe was released under YBNL Nation and Empire, Asake was already rising with hit singles like Sungba. However, the 12-track album exceeded expectations and introduced a sound that was both deeply Nigerian and globally appealing. With its blend of Afrobeats, Fuji elements, and Amapiano rhythms, the album captured Asake’s unique vocal style and energy. Tracks such as Joha, Terminator, Organise, and Nzaza became instant fan favorites and helped define a new era in street-pop music.

The album’s success was immediate and historic. On Apple Music Africa, it broke the record for the most streams on both its first day and within its first three days of release. For a notable moment in time, every song on the album occupied the Top 12 spots on the Apple Music Nigeria charts. Internationally, the project reached number one on Apple Music album charts in 26 different countries. It also peaked at number two on the Billboard World Albums Chart and debuted at number 66 on the Billboard 200, becoming one of the highest-charting Nigerian albums at the time.

Even beyond Africa, Mr Money With The Vibe made history by entering the UK Albums Chart at number 22. It became the first Nigerian debut album to achieve this. In Nigeria, it also set a record by placing seven songs in the Top 10 simultaneously on the TurnTable charts, a feat that had not been achieved before. These accomplishments solidified Asake’s place as one of the most influential artists of the mid-2020s.

The album’s return to the charts this year appears to be connected to Asake’s recent orchestral performance at the Red Bull Symphonic concert in New York. Clips from the performance went viral, reigniting interest in songs from the debut album. New listeners have also continued to discover the project, while longtime fans still return to it as part of their daily playlists. This strong replay value proves that the music did not just trend for a season, but became part of everyday culture.

What makes Mr Money With The Vibe stand out is how it captured a unique sound and cultural moment. Asake brought energy, rhythm, and a distinct vocal delivery that listeners recognized instantly. Even with the fast-paced nature of Afrobeats, where new songs constantly replace old hits, his debut has become one of those rare albums that stays relevant long after its release.

Asake continued his momentum with his second album Lungu Boy, released in 2024. The album also performed strongly, debuting at number 115 on the Billboard 200 and gathering hundreds of millions of streams. By late 2025, Lungu Boy remained in the Spotify Nigeria Top 10, making Asake one of the few artists with two high-streaming albums simultaneously on the charts.

The continued success of Mr Money With The Vibe shows that Asake’s influence is not temporary. The album has become a cultural reference point and a go-to playlist staple for many fans. At 148 weeks and counting, it stands as proof that a great debut album does not just introduce an artist—it can define an entire era of music.
