APC Appoints Masari as Chairman of National Convention Committee, Uzodimma Becomes Treasurer
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has replaced Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma with former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari as Chairman of the National Convention Central Coordination Committee ahead of the party’s convention scheduled for March 27 and 28, 2026.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by the APC National Secretary, Surajudeen Basiru, and shared on the party’s official X page on Friday.
“In further consultation with the leadership and national stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, the Central Coordination Committee for the 2026 National Convention has been reconstituted,” the statement read. “Sub-committees of the Central Coordination Committee will be constituted and announced in due course.”
Following the reconstitution, Uzodimma, who was initially named chairman, has been reassigned as Treasurer. The party also expanded the committee membership from 73 to 90, adding senior figures, including Senator Barry Mpigi and other prominent party leaders.
Under the revised structure, former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim was appointed Vice Chairman I, while Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who also chairs the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, serves as Vice Chairman II. Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni remains Secretary of the committee.
The changes come just days after Uzodimma’s initial appointment as chairman, signaling the APC’s accelerated preparations for the convention. The event will culminate in the election of new members of the party’s National Working Committee, shaping APC leadership for the coming years.
