Angela Okorie Speaks Against ‘I Owe Nobody Anything’ Mindset
Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has criticized the popular belief that people owe nothing to others. She argued that this mindset has contributed to irresponsibility, broken relationships, and a society lacking empathy.
On March 2, 2025, Okorie shared her thoughts on Instagram, saying, “I owe nobody this, I owe nobody that… that’s how we got to this level of irresponsibility, broken relationships, and a reckless society. Don’t let anybody lie to you. You owe people RESPECT, EMPATHY, COMPASSION, REGARDS, GOOD CHARACTER, and ACCOUNTABILITY!!”
Her statement sparked reactions online, with many agreeing that people should take responsibility for how they treat others. Some users supported her, saying, “This is a fact. The ‘I owe nobody’ mindset has misled many,” while another added, “People don’t care about how their behavior affects others, only their fake image.”
Others, however, defended the belief, stating that love and respect should not be expected from others unless it is earned through mutual interactions.
Despite the mixed reactions, Okorie’s message has reignited conversations about personal responsibility and how people relate to one another in society.
