Al Hilal Raise Osimhen Salary Offer to €50m in Final Bid as Transfer Battle Intensifies

Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal is making one last push to sign Victor Osimhen, offering the Nigerian striker a staggering €50 million per year salary in a final attempt to secure his services. Despite the 26-year-old previously rejecting their advances, Al Hilal remain undeterred in their pursuit of the Napoli star, determined to bring him to the Saudi Pro League.

Osimhen, who is under contract with Napoli until 2026, had already turned down a lucrative €30m per year proposal earlier this month. But Al Hilal have now returned with a significantly improved offer, in hopes of beating off stiff competition from Galatasaray, Manchester United, and several Premier League clubs.

According to reports from Goal.com and Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Al Hilal are prepared to pay Osimhen €50m annually and have informed Napoli they are ready to meet his €75m release clause. Romano confirmed, “Al Hilal are not giving up… They want to submit a new proposal. Osimhen rejected 10 days ago, but they insist.”

Al Hilal had initially aimed to close the deal before June 10, ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup, but failed. Yet, their continued persistence suggests they believe the new salary offer, which is among the highest in world football, could convince Osimhen to leave Europe.

While Al Hilal leads the financial race, Manchester United have not stepped back. After failing to secure Viktor Gyökeres, United have resumed negotiations for Osimhen. They are willing to match the €75m release clause and offer a €12m yearly salary, but they face budget constraints, having just spent £62.5m to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

United’s ability to land Osimhen now hinges on selling players to raise funds. The club also risks losing out if Liverpool, Arsenal, or Chelsea enter the picture. These Champions League-bound teams could not only afford the Nigerian but also offer him better sporting prospects and the chance to play at the highest European level.

Meanwhile, Turkish champions Galatasaray remain hopeful. Despite the financial gap, they have offered Osimhen a net salary of €15–20m per year and are actively working to structure payments for the €75m clause. Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg reported that Galatasaray are still in the race and pushing hard for what could be the most audacious signing in their history.

However, the main hurdle remains Napoli’s demand for fewer instalments in the release clause payment, a challenge for Galatasaray’s financial setup. If they can resolve this, they might have a shot, especially given Osimhen’s successful loan spell at the Turkish side, where he scored 37 goals and provided 8 assists in 41 games.

Despite these tempting options, Osimhen’s preference still seems to lean towards staying in Europe, where he has more competitive opportunities. He previously rejected Al Hilal’s offer because he felt he had much more to prove in top-tier European football, even after being frozen out of Antonio Conte’s Napoli squad last season.

Osimhen has enjoyed a fruitful stint at Napoli since arriving from Lille in 2020, with 76 goals and 18 assists in 133 matches. His remarkable 2022/23 campaign, where he scored 26 Serie A goals, helped Napoli lift the Scudetto for the first time in over three decades.

As the summer transfer window heats up, the decision now rests with Osimhen. Will the Nigerian striker opt for Al Hilal’s life-changing offer, stay in Europe for more competitive football, or return to Turkey, where he shined just last season?

Tips and Recommendations:

  • Osimhen should carefully consider long-term career goals vs. financial reward.
  • Clubs like Man United need to act fast and make space in their squad to finance his move.
  • If staying in Europe is Osimhen’s top priority, he might prefer Premier League offers over others.
  • Galatasaray must resolve the payment structure issue fast to stay in contention.
  • The player’s next move will likely shape his legacy, whether it’s chasing silverware in Europe or leading the Saudi League revolution.
