Actors Guild of Nigeria set to launch mobile app to boost Nollywood’s digital future
The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) is stepping into the future by launching a new mobile app to bring digital change to Nollywood. This move aims to give Nigerian actors better access to industry tools, improve how they interact with fans, and open Nollywood to a wider global audience. The official launch of the app will take place on June 28, during the unveiling of the guild’s brand-new national secretariat in Lagos.
AGN President, Emeka Rollas, shared the exciting news in a statement, calling it more than just a tech upgrade. “This is not just about an app or an office; it’s about building a future-ready AGN,” he said. According to him, the app is part of a long-term digital transformation plan that will change how the industry operates.
But why is this app such a big deal for Nollywood?
The answer is simple: It will help actors and fans connect more easily, and it will make Nollywood’s operations more organised and modern. Rollas explained that members will now have easier digital access to AGN services, while the public can also interact with the industry more closely. “We are giving our members digital access and recognition, while opening our doors to the world through innovation, accountability, and collaboration,” he added.
The Actors Guild of Nigeria mobile app will serve as a digital link between the entertainment industry and Nollywood fans everywhere. Rollas described the app as a “digital handshake to the world,” showing Nollywood’s readiness to engage globally and keep up with modern trends.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the app will offer several exciting features. These include secure fan engagement, access to Nollywood news, audition notices, upcoming events, training, and behind-the-scenes content. Fans can also enjoy red carpet coverage and digital meet-and-greets with their favourite stars, all in one place.
The AGN, founded in 1998, is the official body representing Nigerian screen actors and has grown into the largest actors’ association in Africa. It has more than 2 million registered members nationwide. Under Emeka Rollas’ leadership since 2017, the guild has introduced many new reforms, including a licensing system for actors to improve professionalism and protect their rights.
This app is just one of many efforts the AGN is making to fix problems in the industry, such as poor pay and the lack of proper industry regulation. It shows Nollywood’s willingness to grow and compete with global film industries in the digital age.
With this launch, the Actors Guild of Nigeria mobile app is set to become a key platform in Nollywood’s future, connecting actors, fans, and industry insiders like never before.
