Harrysong’s Ex-Wife Temporarily Gives Up Custody of Their Children
Alexer Pere, the former wife of Nigerian singer Harrysong, has announced that she is temporarily stepping aside from the custody of their two young children.
The revelation came through an emotional video shared by Alexer on her Instagram story on Thursday morning, where she explained the difficult decision. She described the move as painful, saying it followed years of emotional pressure after the end of her marriage.
According to Alexer, she had been caring for the children since their separation, with the kids living with her and attending school from her home. Harrysong only occasionally saw them. This arrangement has lasted for about two years.
She accused her former husband of frequently disturbing her peace, often coming to her home without notice and creating tension in her daily life. The constant stress, she said, has taken a heavy emotional toll, making it difficult to continue coping. Alexer also mentioned that Harrysong filed a petition containing certain allegations, which she plans to address later.
Despite stepping aside temporarily, Alexer stressed that she has not abandoned her children. She affirmed her intention to return for them once she is in a better emotional state.
She also expressed concern about the children’s living arrangements, noting that their father is often away, and they may sometimes be left in the care of domestic workers despite their young ages. Alexer revealed that she moved from Asaba to Lagos after experiencing threats that made her feel unsafe. She emphasised that her decision was made out of necessity to protect her mental health and well-being.
“I want the public to understand that no mother willingly gives up her children. I made this choice to stay alive and mentally stable,” she said, appealing for the safety of her children. She reassured that her bond with them remains strong and that she will always be part of their lives.
In January 2024, Harrysong publicly discussed challenges in his marriage, requesting that the public respect his family’s privacy. Shortly after, Alexer hinted on social media that the relationship had fully ended. The couple, married in March 2021, share two children aged four and three.
This decision highlights the emotional difficulties faced by celebrity families and the personal sacrifices parents sometimes make for their own mental health and the well-being of their children.
