Yhemolee Blames Seun Kuti for Fela’s Online Disrespect During Wizkid Feud

Nigerian media personality Idowu Adeyemi, popularly known as Yhemolee, has publicly blamed Seun Kuti for the online disrespect aimed at the late Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti. The controversy comes amid a heated feud between Wizkid and Seun Kuti that has drawn significant attention from social media users across Nigeria.

Yhemolee, speaking on his Snapchat page, stated that many members of Wizkid’s fanbase, Wizkid FC, have little to no knowledge about Fela Kuti or his achievements. According to him, this ignorance has worsened the situation, as some fans have engaged in disrespectful commentary, which would not have happened without Seun Kuti’s involvement.

“Na Seun Kuti I blame!! This fraction of FC you are cursing out don’t even know Fela! They have no single memory of him. Wiz is their GOAT! They can go memory lane with him from Holla at your boy till date!” Yhemolee wrote. He stressed that even individuals who frequent the Fela Shrine often know very little about the late musician, showing how the younger generation lacks respect for historical icons.

Yhemolee further criticized Seun Kuti for engaging with online trolls, saying the interactions have brought embarrassment to his family. He argued that the feud escalated unnecessarily, with Fela Kuti’s legacy being dragged into arguments with teenagers and Gen Z fans who are mostly unfamiliar with his work.

“Innocent wife self collect inside, Nigerians know Fela shouldn’t be disrespected as a matter of fact, this is the first time I’m ever seeing anything disrespectful about Fela courtesy you!” Yhemolee stated. He emphasized that Fela Kuti’s memory deserves respect and that social media conflicts should not distort the reputation of cultural icons.

According to Yhemolee, Seun Kuti’s actions indirectly provoked Wizkid’s outburst. He accused Seun of “rage-baiting” the singer, which ultimately led to a public reaction from Wizkid, further fueling the debate among fans online. Yhemolee noted that Fela’s legacy has been unfairly dragged into a feud with a generation largely unaware of his impact.

The media personality also highlighted the irony of the situation, pointing out that some fans who insult Fela can recite hundreds of Wizkid’s songs but cannot name more than one Fela track. This, he argues, shows a growing cultural gap and a lack of respect for Nigerian music history among younger generations.

The ongoing feud has sparked broader conversations about celebrity responsibility, fan behavior, and the preservation of cultural legacies. Yhemolee’s comments suggest that artists like Seun Kuti and Wizkid have a role to play in guiding fans and ensuring that social media disputes do not overshadow the contributions of legendary figures like Fela Kuti.
