Dangote Refinery Sells Petrol Nationwide at N739 per Litre

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has officially commenced the nationwide sale of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) at a pump price of ₦739 per litre across all MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations. This initiative marks a major milestone in the refinery’s efforts to provide affordable fuel to Nigerians and stabilise the downstream petroleum sector.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the refinery highlighted that with over 2,000 MRS stations nationwide, the reduced pricing will be implemented across all outlets, ensuring that the benefits reach consumers throughout the country. The company commended marketers who have adopted the new pricing regime and urged others to follow suit in support of Nigeria’s economic recovery.

“We commend MRS and other marketers who have demonstrated patriotism by reflecting the reduced price at the pump. We call on others to join this effort as a show of support for Nigeria’s economic recovery,” the statement said.

Historically, the festive season in Nigeria has been linked with fuel scarcity and sudden price increases. Dangote Refinery’s intervention—offering petrol at a reduced price backed by a guaranteed daily supply of 50 million litres—has significantly altered supply dynamics, providing much-needed relief to households, transport operators, and businesses during the holiday period.

By refining locally at scale, the refinery reduces Nigeria’s vulnerability to global market fluctuations, helps conserve foreign exchange, stabilises the naira, and strengthens national energy security.

The company also issued a warning against attempts by unscrupulous operators to create artificial scarcity in response to the price cut, urging regulatory authorities to remain vigilant.

“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply to frustrate recent price reductions is unpatriotic and unacceptable. We urge regulatory authorities to take firm action against such practices, especially during this critical festive period,” the statement added.

Consumers were advised not to purchase petrol at inflated prices and to take advantage of locally refined fuel available at ₦739 per litre. The refinery also provided a hotline for reporting stations selling above the official price: 0800 123 5264.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery called on other petrol station operators to patronise its products so that the benefits of the price reduction reach all Nigerians, ensuring broad-based relief and a more stable market.

The refinery reaffirmed its commitment to steady supply, price moderation, and energy security, emphasizing that its operations are guided by long-term national interest rather than short-term market pressures.

“Our objective remains clear: to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality petroleum products at affordable prices for Nigerians, while supporting economic stability and reducing dependence on imports,” the company concluded.
