Nigerian Coach Sells Victor Osimhen’s Boots, Launches N250,000 Giveaway for Fans

Olisa Ezeasor, assistant coach of Solution FC, a Nigeria National League team based in Anambra, has made headlines after selling the pair of boots personally gifted to him by Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen. The boots, which Osimhen wore when he scored a hat-trick during Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Benin Republic, were put up for sale at N1 million, just two months after they were gifted.

Ezeasor revealed that he sold the boots to football administrator Fola Olatunji-David for an undisclosed sum. The assistant coach explained that the decision was motivated by his need to support personal business ventures. “Officially putting this boot up for sale. Price: One million naira only. Size: 44/45. Money needed to support my personal business,” Ezeasor posted on social media, quickly drawing attention from football fans and the media.

In an exciting twist, Ezeasor also decided to share part of the proceeds with his fans, announcing a giveaway worth N250,000. Twenty-five lucky winners will receive N10,000 each. Fans were asked to follow his account, turn on post notifications, and comment with a screenshot of their notifications to enter. “In order to give back to my mutual community, who have been active under my posts since my small fame in this space, I’ll be doing a giveaway worth N250,000,” he said.

The boots hold significant sentimental and sporting value, as they were worn during Osimhen’s record-breaking performance that reinforced Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup ambitions. They were originally gifted to Ezeasor in September 2025 after he publicly praised Osimhen for inspiring young Nigerian footballers and fans alike.

While Ezeasor enjoys the spotlight from the boot sale and giveaway, his team, Solution FC, faced a tough weekend, losing 2-0 to Abakaliki FC, the 2025 President Federation Cup finalists. Ezeasor lamented what he described as partial officiating in the league, highlighting the ongoing challenges coaches and players face in the Nigeria National League.

Fans and football enthusiasts quickly reacted to the story on social media, with many applauding Ezeasor for turning a personal gift into a way to engage his fan base and give back to the community. The gesture also sparked conversations about football culture in Nigeria, the influence of star players like Osimhen, and the role of grassroots coaches in nurturing talent.

The sale of Osimhen’s boots underscores how personal memorabilia from top athletes can carry both monetary and cultural significance, while also creating opportunities for community interaction and fan engagement. For Ezeasor, the decision reflects both practicality and generosity, showing that even small gestures can make a big impact on fans and aspiring footballers.
