Tinubu Says Nigeria’s Security Crisis Remains His Biggest Worry

President Bola Tinubu has said that nothing worries him more than the security crisis affecting Nigeria, especially the Northern region. He explained that insecurity has become a serious threat to the country’s peace, growth, and unity. The president spoke on Saturday in Kaduna during the 25th anniversary of the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, where he stressed that Nigeria cannot move forward if violence continues to affect people in the North. Tinubu was represented at the event by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.

Tinubu said the current situation demands urgent action because insecurity is affecting schools, farming, businesses, and the daily lives of millions of people. According to him, Nigeria cannot prosper when any part of the country is suffering, adding that one region’s pain affects the entire nation. He said his administration inherited complicated security issues but is working with full determination to bring them under control.

The president stated that his government is committed to eliminating terrorist groups, bandits and all criminal networks operating across the North. He said these security challenges have contributed to economic decline, school closures, and deep fear among families. Tinubu expressed hope for the region’s economic future, saying he looks forward to the day when crude oil tankers will begin moving from Kolmani and other northern oil fields, showing signs of growth and development.

He noted that major infrastructure projects such as the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Superhighway are being fast-tracked so that they can be completed and commissioned soon. Tinubu said good roads and better security will help bring investors and create opportunities for young people across the North.

The president also said that leaders in the region must speak honestly and boldly about the problems facing their communities. He warned that the North cannot progress if leaders ignore the suffering of the people or fail to protect vulnerable families. Tinubu explained that a nation fails when leaders sleep comfortably while millions struggle with hunger, fear and insecurity every day.

Tinubu added that many years of division and dysfunction had weakened unity in the North, but the diversity seen at the ACF anniversary showed that people are ready to rebuild trust and work together again. He said the Silver Jubilee of the Arewa Consultative Forum was not only a celebration but also a reminder of the importance of courage, fairness and responsible leadership.

The president praised the ACF for consistently standing for dignity, justice, and equality for millions of people across Northern Nigeria. He said the forum has, for 25 years, acted as the conscience of the region by speaking up on issues that affect the people the most.

Tinubu called on leaders across all sectors to recommit themselves to the values that inspired the formation of the ACF. He said the unity and stability of the North remain essential to the peace and progress of Nigeria as a whole, and urged everyone to work together to restore safety, hope, and development in the region.
