Beauty Tukura Opens Up About Depression and Suicidal Thoughts After BBNaija Disqualification

Former Miss Nigeria and Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) star, Beauty Tukura, has opened up about the deep emotional struggles she faced after being disqualified from the reality show. The ex-housemate revealed that she went through a dark phase marked by depression and suicidal thoughts, admitting that she nearly took her own life at one point.

During her appearance on the BeyondWithEzinne podcast, Beauty shared that the public criticism and backlash following her disqualification pushed her into one of the darkest moments of her life. She explained that she felt lost, ashamed, and constantly battled overwhelming emotions she didn’t know how to manage.

“I was depressed. I felt like my life had ended. For weeks, I lived in a dark room and only left occasionally for therapy sessions,” she recalled emotionally. “I cried every single day. I was thinking of ending it all. I almost actually committed suicide. The pressure was too much, and it felt like nothing I said would make sense because everyone just wanted to crucify me. It was very hard.”

The former beauty queen revealed that one of the most difficult moments came when she had to face her family. She said she felt deep shame and disappointment, making it hard for her to visit or even speak with her parents. “I was too ashamed to see them. I didn’t know how to face them after everything that happened. I was in a very bad place,” Beauty said.

However, what saved her from completely breaking down was the unconditional love and support from her parents and genuine messages from fans around the world. Their encouragement helped her rebuild her confidence and find strength again.

“My parents stood by me. They were my biggest supporters through everything. I also received messages from people all over the world reminding me that I was loved. That gave me the strength to focus on the positive side of things,” she explained. “Since then, I’ve learned to concentrate on love and positivity, not on hate or public opinion.”

Reflecting on her experience, Beauty described it as a major turning point in her life. She said that though the disqualification brought her to her lowest point, it also taught her valuable lessons about resilience, self-love, and forgiveness.

“That was the lowest point of my life, and I’ve decided it will stay that way. There’s no room for such mistakes anymore,” she affirmed.

Beauty Tukura, who was crowned Miss Nigeria in 2019, has since reinvented herself, focusing on her career, mental wellness, and inspiring others who may be struggling with similar experiences. Her story serves as a reminder of the intense pressure public figures face and the importance of mental health awareness in the entertainment industry.
