Obi’s Team Slams APC for Attacking Him Over Nigeria’s Insecurity

Peter Obi’s media team has strongly criticized the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress after it attacked Obi over his comments on Nigeria’s insecurity. The team said that real patriotism means speaking honestly about the problems affecting the country, not defending failure or attacking those who speak out.

The issue began after former U.S. President Donald Trump described Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” because of alleged persecution of Christians. In response, Obi said that Nigerians should take the warning seriously and see it as another sign of the growing insecurity and loss of lives happening across the country.

The APC claimed that Obi was using a sensitive issue for political gain and accused him of trying to score points instead of showing leadership. However, Obi’s media team disagreed strongly, saying Obi’s remarks were meant to draw attention to the real and urgent security problems affecting Nigerians every day.

The team argued that those criticizing Obi are ignoring the true situation. They said that speaking out about insecurity is necessary because many Nigerians live in fear due to kidnappings, killings, and destruction of property. According to them, silence helps no one and only allows the problems to continue.

They also explained that insecurity is not the only problem, as Nigeria continues to face high unemployment, economic struggles, and widespread corruption. The team said the ruling party should focus on solving these issues instead of trying to silence voices calling for change and accountability.

The media team pointed out that a responsible government would listen, learn, and work to protect its citizens rather than attack critics. They stressed that pointing out failures is not disloyalty, but a way to push the country toward improvement and safety for everyone.

What does the team believe patriotism truly means?
They believe patriotism means caring enough about the country to speak up when things are going wrong, instead of pretending that everything is fine. For them, love for the country is shown through honesty and courage, not silence or denial.

The team concluded by urging those in power to focus less on political blame and more on real solutions that can bring peace, progress, and hope to Nigerians across every region of the country.
