Asherkine Reveals Why He Stopped Making Binge-Eating Videos

Popular Nigerian content creator Asherkine has revealed why he decided to stop producing his well-known binge-eating food videos. In a heartfelt post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the food enthusiast opened up about the serious physical and mental impact of constantly filming large meal challenges.

He explained that what began as a fun and creative expression soon developed into an unhealthy habit that he could no longer control. According to Asherkine, binge eating became a daily routine, even when he wasn’t creating content, leading to severe health complications.

He listed some of the health issues he faced, including abdominal pain, heart palpitations, weight gain, irregular sleep, high blood pressure, and chronic fatigue. Despite trying to stay active, he admitted that he lost his sense of moderation as the compulsion to overeat took over.

“Even though I had an active lifestyle at the time and tried to stay fit, I lost the concept of moderation as mindless binge eating became the OOTD even when I wasn’t creating content,” Asherkine wrote. “Gluttony had made its way aside the general discomfort, heart palpitations, excess weight gain, irregular sleep, sneaky high blood pressure count, constant fatigue, and so on. The mental battle to beat gluttony is probably the hardest thing to deal with.”

The content creator said it has now been two years since he began addressing the disorder, admitting that the journey has not been easy but that he has become more conscious of its long-term effects.

While he clarified that he’s not quitting food content entirely, Asherkine emphasized that he will no longer produce high-volume, binge-style videos, noting that his focus will shift to promoting a healthier and more balanced approach to food.

His confession has sparked a wave of conversations online about content creation burnout, eating disorders, and the fine line between entertainment and personal health. Many fans praised him for being honest and using his platform to spread awareness about the mental and physical toll of extreme content challenges.

Asherkine’s story has become a reminder of the hidden struggles many digital creators face behind the camera, particularly in the pursuit of viral fame.
