Tacha Slams Content Creators Over Lagos Criticism

Media personality Tacha has strongly criticized content creators who constantly attack Lagos State, accusing them of hypocrisy and selective outrage. In a fiery post on X (formerly Twitter), the former reality star argued that many of these influencers focus only on Lagos while ignoring problems in their own states.

Tacha challenged those who mock Lagos to instead highlight the “highbrow” or well-developed areas in their home states. She questioned why they act as though Lagos is Nigeria’s only state, stressing that every region has its own leadership and issues that should also be discussed publicly.

Her reaction comes after some content creators, including influencers like Scott Iguma and Cappella, went viral for saying Lagos “smells” and lacks proper infrastructure. Their comments sparked heated online debates, with supporters claiming the influencers were speaking the truth, while others felt they were unfairly targeting Nigeria’s busiest city.

In defense of Lagos, the state’s Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, dismissed the claims as deliberate attempts to damage the reputation of the city, which remains Nigeria’s economic hub.

Tacha’s post reflects a larger argument that often plays out on social media — the rivalry and tension between Lagos and other Nigerian states when it comes to development, infrastructure, and representation. She argued that the critics’ failure to acknowledge progress in their own regions shows bias and ignorance.

Her response also highlights the role of social media in shaping narratives about Nigerian cities. Platforms like X, TikTok, and Instagram have become battlegrounds where content creators amplify both praise and criticism, influencing how citizens and outsiders perceive urban governance.

While Lagos is far from perfect, Tacha insisted that the continuous spotlight on the state ignores the need for balanced criticism across Nigeria. She urged Nigerians to look inward and hold leaders in their home states accountable rather than always using Lagos as the standard of debate.

The discussion once again shows how Lagos, as Nigeria’s commercial and financial center, often attracts more scrutiny than any other city. For Tacha, however, this selective criticism is unfair and paints an incomplete picture of Nigeria’s development challenges.
