Bello Mutari to Receive NUJ Award of Excellence in Kogi
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council, has nominated Alhaji Bello Mutari, Chief Executive Officer of Mutari Bello Integrated Group (MBIG), for its prestigious Award of Excellence. The recognition comes as a testament to his philanthropic works, business success, and consistent efforts to empower youths across Kogi State.
In a statement jointly signed by the NUJ Council Chairman, Alhaji Ademu Saidu, and Secretary, Comrade Segun Oyenibi, the council described Mutari’s nomination as a reward for his “giant strides in business, philanthropy, and youth empowerment.” They noted that his impact has been particularly visible in Kogi Central, where he has made significant contributions through the MBIG Foundation.
Bello Mutari is not only an entrepreneur but also a philanthropist and entertainment promoter who has invested heavily in initiatives aimed at uplifting communities. His foundation, MBIG, established in 2021, has grown into a multi-sector organization with investments spanning business, philanthropy, and the creative industry.
Through MBIG Music, the entertainment arm of the group, Mutari has supported and promoted rising talents such as Maleeq Souls and King Obilo, giving young artistes a platform to showcase their creativity and build sustainable careers. His influence in entertainment has also positioned Kogi as an emerging hub for creative talent.
Our correspondent in Kogi reports that the NUJ acknowledged Mutari’s interventions in education, entrepreneurship, and regular empowerment programs that have positively impacted many families and young people. These initiatives, according to the council, demonstrate his commitment to human development and community growth.
The Award of Excellence will be officially presented during the grand finale of the 2025 NUJ Press Week. This year’s celebration carries the theme “Kogi State’s Solid Minerals: How Media Can Drive Development.” The event will take place on September 25, 2025, at the EdgeDrive Hotel, Lokoja, starting at 10:00 a.m.
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, has been announced as the Special Guest of Honour, while His Royal Majesty, the Ohimegye of Igu Kingdom, Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu, will serve as the Royal Father of the Day.
The NUJ Press Week is expected to bring together journalists, government officials, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders to celebrate excellence, discuss development, and highlight the role of the media in driving Kogi’s progress.
For Bello Mutari, the nomination represents not just personal recognition but also validation of the work his organization continues to do in improving lives and creating opportunities for the people of Kogi State.
