Motunde Speaks on False Pregnancy and Abortion Rumour Involving Mr Macaroni
Nigerian actress Omotunde Sogunle, popularly known as Motunde from her roles in Mr Macaroni’s comedy skits, has spoken openly about a difficult moment in her career when a damaging rumour almost broke her spirit.
In a recent interview, Motunde explained how she once became the subject of a false story that claimed she got pregnant by her on-screen father, Mr Macaroni, and even went as far as alleging that she aborted the pregnancy. She described the accusation as shocking and completely baseless, stressing that her connection with Mr Macaroni has always been a professional working relationship.
The actress admitted that at the time, the rumour left her devastated because it spread quickly and painted a false picture of her personal life. She revealed that it took her a while to come to terms with the situation, but over time, she found strength and has since moved past the painful episode. Today, she and Mr Macaroni even laugh about the false claim, turning what was once hurtful into a reminder of how far she has come.
Motunde also shared that one of the biggest lessons she learned from the experience was the importance of silence in the face of false accusations. According to her, responding to every rumour only makes it grow bigger and keeps the story alive for longer than necessary.
She explained: “They said I got pregnant for my on-screen daddy – Mr. Macaroni – and that I aborted the pregnancy. I was shocked. When did that happen? It is not possible. Must there be such a thing between people in a working relationship? I was really devastated then. One of the things I have learned from Mr. Macaroni is to keep your silence for your own peace. The more you come out to counter false claims, the longer the matter drags, and you will have to keep explaining.”
Her story highlights how quickly false news can spread in the entertainment industry and how it can affect the personal lives of those involved. By choosing to remain calm and silent, Motunde said she has been able to focus on her career and maintain her peace of mind.
The actress continues to build her career in Nollywood and has earned recognition for her comedic roles alongside Mr Macaroni, showing resilience in overcoming challenges that come with fame.
