Reekado Banks Slams Critic for Mocking Him After Attending Church with Content Creator Kesari

Nigerian singer Ayodeji Solomon, popularly known as Reekado Banks, has strongly responded to a social media user who mocked him after he attended a church service with popular content creator Toheeb Okala, widely called Kesari.

The incident began when Kesari publicly declared that he wanted to change his lifestyle and asked his followers whether he should embrace Christianity or Islam. To document his journey, he shared videos of his first visit to a church service, where Reekado Banks joined him. The two were seen praying, singing, and participating fully in the service, which quickly attracted reactions online.

While many people praised Kesari’s decision and Reekado’s support, a social media user criticized the singer, calling him a failed artist for being in church. The comment struck a nerve with Reekado Banks, who wasted no time in addressing it.

In a video posted online, the singer asked why anyone should be mocked for seeking God. He questioned what better alternative the critic could offer, expressing disappointment that such a personal decision was used against him. In his words, he said he invited Kesari to church only to find negative remarks online suggesting that attending church was a fallback for failed musicians. Reekado, visibly angered, fired back by asking if he was supposed to seek help from the critic instead and used harsh words to show his frustration at the insult.

This response quickly spread across social media, sparking debate among fans and critics. Many defended the singer, saying faith should never be ridiculed, while others argued that celebrities should be prepared for public scrutiny no matter their choices.

Reekado Banks first rose to fame in 2014 after signing with Mavin Records under Don Jazzy. He enjoyed quick success with several hit songs and went on to win major awards, including Rookie of the Year and Next Rated at The Headies. His debut album Spotlight was released in 2016, and he later left Mavin Records in 2018 to pursue a solo career.

In July 2025, Reekado dropped his second studio album The Game Needs You, further establishing himself as a consistent voice in Afropop. Despite criticism from some quarters, his career achievements and fan base prove his continued relevance in Nigeria’s music scene.

This latest controversy highlights how faith, personal growth, and celebrity culture often collide in the public space. For Reekado, however, his firm response shows that he is determined to live by his own values, regardless of outside opinion.
